A cutting-edge facility has been the host of numerous international and local conventions, meetings, social gathering, concerts and fairs. This is what the Philippine International Convention Center or PICC is known of. It is situated in the Cultural Center of the Philippines complex in Pasay City, Philippines minutes away from Coconut Palace, Aliw Theater and Folk Arts Theater.
The PICC made history as the first international convention center in Asia and led other countries to build their own convention center. It was constructed from November 1974 to September 1976 with Presidential Decree No. 520 authorizing Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas to construct the building. It was designed by a Filipino National Artist in Architecture, Leandro V. Locsin, the same artist who designed the Monastery of the Transfiguration in Bukidnon among many other striking structures. The Philippine International Convention Center was formally opened last September 5, 1976.
The PICC has more than 70,000 square meters of floor area and a wide range of facilities that can accommodate almost any gatherings of any size. It is also considered as an architectural landmark and instituted itself as one of the versatile event area in the Asia-Pacific Region. PICC provides advance conferencing equipments and facilities that would cater international, regional Asia and local events. It has also been the venue for annual Awards Night of the Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) from its inception up to the present.
PICC has been divided into 5 building modules which are the Delegation Building, Secretariat Building, Plenary Hall, Reception Hall and The Forum. Each of these building modules is spacious enough and can be transformed into different kinds of setting for any special events. The Delegation Building is a five-story building which houses 12 meeting rooms, 2 new banquet halls, and 2 corporate boardrooms. The three-story Secretariat Building is located at the Southern end of the PICC complex and houses more meeting rooms, banquet halls, media center among many others. The Plenary Hall is the most awe-inspiring of the 5 building modules which can conveniently hold up to 4,000 people and well-equipped with dressing rooms and VIP lounge. The Reception Hall can accommodate 2, 500 people for a sit-down dinner or 5,000 people for a cocktail party. Lastly, The Forum is a multipurpose facility with spaces that can be redesigned to suit the organizer’s needs and can hold up 3,000 people.
As a whole, PICC is the perfect place to hold any special events (foreign and local) since it is strategically located in Pasay, nearby Manila, minutes away from Ninoy Aquino International Airport and close to hotels and shopping malls. It has spacious parking areas that can accommodate up to 400 vehicles, medical clinic, ATM and bank services. PICC is well-secured with closed circuit television cameras (CCTV) with round the clock security guards, bomb-sniffing canines and metal detectors.
